"The 4th Seminar of Chinese-French Cultural Management Professionals " was held by School of Arts of Peking University and National Center for Research into Intercultural Communication of Arts (NCRICA) on December 7th to 11th, 2015 in Overseas Exchange Center. The seminar was supported by the Bureau of External Cultural Relations, Ministry of Culture, the People's Republic of China, and the French Embassy.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Chen Xuguang, the vice dean of the School of Arts. Attendees included: Zhu Qi, the deputy director of the Bureau of External Cultural Relations, Professor Wang YiChuan, the dean of School of Arts and the co-director of NCRICA, and Mr. Fabrice Rousseau, the deputy Counselor of French Embassy, Mr. Pu Tong, the former deputy director of the Bureau of External Cultural Relations and the director of NCRICA, Zhao XinShu, Head of the Section of West European Affairs of the Bureau of External Cultural Relations, Professor Lin Yi, the executive director of NCRICA and professor of School of Arts, Peking University, Ms. Courtney Geraghty, the development manager of the Vincent Macagne Company, Mrs. Catherine Lefeuvre, the deputy director of the Limousin National Drama Center, Mr. Emmanuel Braconnier, the development manager of the Vincent Macagne Company, and Chinese representatives from cultural organizations nationwide.
Professor Wang YiChuan presented a welcome speech. He introduced the long history and academic advantages of art education of Peking University, and the academic features and important functions of NCRICA. He said, "Communicating with foreign professionals could help us learning from their advanced experience in arts creation and cultural management, thus we could enrich our cultural and artistic appreciation. As the important parts of Chinese cultural industries, theaters and troupes ought to learn the advanced management models and to improve their operational capability in order to be competitive in the global market. The mission of this event is to offer an opportunity for Chinese cultural administrators to discuss the Chinese management models with French cultural management experts, and to find a proper way to develop Chinese theatres and troupes under the environment of globalization. I believe, with the support of our attendees, the event co-hosted by the School of Arts Peking University and NCRICA will achieve a great success.”
Mr. Zhu Qi, the deputy director of the Bureau of External Cultural Relations and Mr. Fabrice Rousseau, the deputy Counselor of French Embassy also gave the speech respectively. Mr. Zhu pointed out that “During the Second Chinese-French Advanced Cultural Exchange Meeting in May this year, the two governments signed an agreement on the cooperation in encouraging the communication of cultural administrators, showing the common will of promoting Chinese-French talent exchanges and enriching cultural cooperation projects. Today’s ceremony is the first step that the two sides take to implement the consensus. In recent years, with the rapid development of Chinese cultural industries, more and more Chinese art groups go to the international stages. Works that co-produced by Chinese and French artists have shined on stages around the world. With rich cultural resources, the communication and cooperation between Chinese and French art organizations and theaters will have a great significance on improving both sides’ civilization.”
Mr. Fabrice Rousseau, the deputy Counselor of French Embassy, said: “ Culture plays a core role in Chinese and French relations. From 2015 to 2016, two countries will further enrich exchange activities in culture and arts field.
During the Seminar, the Chinese representatives and the French theater management experts will have a five-day in-depth dialogue on topics such as culture management philosophy, market developments, theater management mechanism, cooperation and exchange projects, and cooperation prospects.
