The cultural management experts who attended the “The 4th Seminar of Chines-French Cultural Management Professionals” watched drama Good Morning, Mom at the Centennial Hall of Peking University in the evening of December 8, 2015.
This drama was produced by the Institute of Film, Television and Theatre, Peking University. Professor Chen Xuguang, the associate dean of the School of Arts, Peking University, has worked as the executive producer of the play; Mr. Tian Qinxin, the director of the National Theatre of China held the position of art producer; Mr. Tang Jinnan, the associate dean of the School of Arts and Ms. Gao Xiuqin, the general manager of Peking Peiwen Company were the co-supervisors of the play. Ms. Zu Jiyan, a postgraduate student who is currently working on her master degree in drama and film studies at the School of Arts, Peking University has directed this play. While the script was written by Ms. Tuo Lu, a PhD student majored in contemporary literature from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Peking University. Besides won the Best Drama, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actor of “the Stars of Drama Awards”, a school level awards ceremony in Peking University, the play has also performed as the opening play of Beijing “Feifei” Drama Festival, the new-introduced performance of “Nanluoguxiang” Theatre Festival and performed during the Beijing International Youth Theatre Festival.
After watching the drama, experts commented highly on the storyline, the stage effects and many other elements. Some of them believed this drama revealed many social problems, was very educational, and hoped the play could be tour performed around the country. They also indicated that this drama could provide creative inspiration and reference to other Chinese theaters and troupes in many ways. They hoped that students and staff in Peking University could produce more excellent works in the future.

“Very impressive! Well written script. It reflects the reality in a deep, meaningful, and educational way. I would like to introduce this drama to Changchun. First, it reflects how to deal with education, family, ethics and morality in our society; second, if there’s no positive energy transferred between parents and children, counter effects will occur without any doubts. Third, it is marveling that these young students could write and direct such a profound script.” ----Jian Guangming, vice president of Jilin Opera Theater, vice director of Peking Opera Troupe and general manager of Public Theater.
“Good morning, Mom is a thought-provoking drama, carefully structured with refined lines. The two performers really devoted themselves into the drama. The play writer gave insights into some of the social status from a unique perspective, dialogue and mind collision between the mother and child reveal social phenomena such as love, family and education of children. The words are sharp. The director is very capable! I like it!” ----Wei Ruixiang, deputy manager of Hebei Bangzi Theater Arts Company in Hebei Province.
“A drama with only two actors started from a communication between a rebellious son and a sharp, harsh mother. All kinds of thoughts and interrogation on family, love, career, life was presented in the play. This drama is not a based on highly professional team and high-tech, but touches people's true selves. The crew registered a WeChat group and let the audience scan the code and join the group to discuss their thoughts, which I think is very thoughtful and interesting. It can increase the popularity of the drama through such convincing promotion, at the same time collects different opinions from the audience. Everyone holds a different understanding towards the drama. A good work of arts is supposed to bring people questions and thoughts.
