The National Center for Research into Intercultural Communication of Arts hosted the Seminar on China-featured Cultural Diplomacy at Peking University on June 23, 2016. Prof. Yang Jiemian, Director of the Academic Committee of the Shanghai Institute of International Studies and former Dean of the Institute, was invited to give a keynote speech entitled "Diplomacy of the Great Powers with Chinese Characteristics". The report expatiates on five aspects concerning the topic including the basic concepts, the theory construction, the strategic thoughts, the feature of the policies and the potential challenges, which has provided substantial references for the study of China-featured Cultural Diplomacy. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Lin Yi, Executive Director of NCRICA. Mr. Zhu Qi, Director of the Department of External Liaison from the Ministry of Culture, Mr. Liang Chuan and Mr. Zhu Hongbin, director and deputy director of the Department of Political Science and Law, senior culture counselors, experts experienced in cultural diplomacy, and related scholars also attended the meeting and carried out in-depth exchange and interaction. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Zhu Qi expressed his expectations to the research team, hoping that the team will not only focus on the theoretical research on cultural diplomacy, but also serve the actual practice, provide strategic foresight, and give full play to the role of think tanks, thus offering the basis for decision-making in terms of top-level design for China-featured Cultural Diplomacy.
