The donation ceremony of Yang Quanhai Foundation of International Communication of Chinese Arts, Peking University was held at Overseas Exchange Centre on Sept. 19, 2016.

Dr. Yang Quanhai, president of Beijing Yi Hai Ying Jie International Culture Communication Center, generously donated 1 million Yuan to encourage the development and communication, especially intercultural communication of Chinese arts. This foundation aims to support theoretical researches on intercultural communication of Chinese Arts and talent cultivation in School of Arts, Peking University. Mr. Hu Jun, Deputy Secretary General of Peking University Education Foundation (PKUEF) accepted the donation on behalf of Peking University, and granted Dr. Yang Quanhai “Peking University Education Contribution Award”. The award is to honor Dr. Yang Quanhai for his endowments to education and public affairs, as well as his deep concern for intercultural communication of Chinese arts and students in Peking University.

This event is presided by Lin Yi, the Executive Director of NCRICA, and a professor of School of Arts, Peking University. On the ceremony, Hu Jun, Deputy Secretary of PKUEF and Chen Xuguang, Associate Dean of School of Arts both expressed gratitude to Dr. Yang Quanhai for his contribution of setting up the foundation. Meanwhile, they appreciated the favor and kindness from Beijing Yi Hai Ying Jie International Culture Communication Center and affirmed its significance in promoting the academic spirits of Peking University. The history of Chinese civilization cultivated and created the unique implication and diversity. The intercultural communication of Chinese arts is a kind of international expression of Chinese symbols and the bridge to inherit and spread Chinese culture. The establishment of the foundation shows a profound significance for motivating intercultural communication of Chinese arts, the mutual appreciation and learning between Chinese arts and foreign arts.

Mr. Hu Jun pointed it out that the sustainable development relies on the support from all sectors of the society. Although the government and Peking University fund many researches of intercultural communication of Chinese arts, but it continuously calls for supports from the society, expects more academic achievements and more well-trained professionals in this filed with supports from the International Communication Foundation of Chinese Art.

Professor Chen Xuguang said the fund would be distributed and used properly, focusing on the theoretical research of the top design of intercultural communication of Chinese arts and cultivation of leading talents in this field. The foundation motivates teachers and students to explore and innovate while researching and studying on intercultural communication of Chinese arts.

Dr. Yan Quanhai gave a speech right after. He said: as a practitioner of intercultural communication of Chinese arts on the global stage, he was excited to set up a dedicated foundation, which focuses on the inheritance and innovation of Chinese culture at Peking University. He hoped the foundation can motivate more scholars to devote themselves in promoting Chinese art, discover, explore and invent more and better works to present the unique charm of Chinese arts. Graduated from Northeast Normal University, Yang has been concerning about education though he is far from basic educational work. He holds the belief firmly that the national greatness and the prosperity of a country is closely related to education, which is a systematic project. He believed that the donation would support and encourage the development of intercultural communication of Chinese arts.

There were representatives from different sectors of the society attended this ceremony, they are: Director Mr. Li Weiping from the Committee of Caring the Next Generation; Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Zhang Juhe from China Association for Non-Profit Organization; Dr. Zhao Hongli, Chairman of Chinese Research Association on Arts Education, Vice-chair of Youth Film Working Committee of Beijing Film Association, and President of Bona Times Media Centre of Film & Television; Mr. Zou Tieli, President of CFM Financial Holding; and the representatives of staff and students from Peking University together witnessed the act of kindness from Doctor Yang Quanhai. Mr. Zhang Juhe, on the behalf of China Association for Non-Profit Organization, emphasized the importance and significance of donations that support education, support intercultural communication of Chinese arts on the ceremony.

After the ceremony, Students and professors from School of Arts discussed with Yang Quanhai on the topic of “Intercultural Communication of Chinese Arts”. As a practitioner of communication of culture and arts for more than twenty years, Yang believes the center should actively participates in intercultural communication related works, promotes Chinese culture toward the world, learns and absorbs the successes of foreign achievements in this field, continuously builds up cultural brands, and cooperated with cultural institutes around the world to contribute the development of economy, the prosperity of culture and the harmony of society.

Dr. Yang has been practicing the motion of spreading international culture to the world all the time. He has planned “The Opening Ceremony of Russian-Chinese Year”, “Confucius Institute Headquarters-- I Can Hear From You”, the “12th Art Festival on Campus”, “China Film Award”, “Gold Dance Award” and other competitions and intercultural exchange events domestically and internationally. He was received by President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier Liu Yandong. He believed that charitable actions of entrepreneurs are a sign of development of the country, and the principal for national prosperity. As an entrepreneur who is responsible to the society, charity behavior is a way of sharing and feeding back, charity is a major path for “the distribution of capitals”. Serving the majority of people is the ultimate goal for being an entrepreneur.

There is never an end for charity. “Peking University Education Contribution Award” is only one stop for Yang on his route of charity. In the future, Dr. Yang Quanhai will keep encouraging the development of charity and call on more individuals to get involved in public affairs.
